The aim of this project was to uplift the knowledge of students waiting for university admission as the knowledge of these platforms is essential when working in university works. So the project was designed,
• To enhance the quality of learning and teaching with related to programming languages and software tools.
• To meet the learning style or needs of students during covid-19 pandemic by allowing them to spend time meaningfully.
• To share proper basic knowledge on python programing, excel, G-suite and clickup with prospective students excelled in G.C.E. A/L examination 2019 who are eagerly waiting for university entrance and the current undergraduates of Sri Lankan universities
• To improve the efficiency and effectiveness of prospective students excelled in G.C.E. A/L examination 2019 who are eagerly waiting for university entrance and the current undergraduates of Sri Lankan universities at present and even to utilize in future.
• To improve user-accessibility and time flexibility to engage learners in the learning process by delivering knowledge through flexible online platforms.
HEAD START - Online Workshop series
The project Head start is an innovative project of Leo Club of UOC Alumni and Planning of the project was done by discussing with the club members and the resource personnel regarding the type of software and programming tools addressed.
The agenda, study material, delivery mode, and convenient time slots were also discussed with the resource persons and the project was decided.
The idea was given by one of our own Leo club members by understanding the value of this project as an undergraduate at the University of Colombo. The Leo members of the organizing committee had been working together from planning to the end of the project. Their exertion towards the project was at the maximum level.
The project was aimed to uplift the knowledge of students waiting for university admission as the knowledge of these platforms is essential when working in university works.
The workshops were conducted in several days and the days and the resource persons participated were as follows.
10th November – 14th November 2020: Planning oof the project
15th November 2020– Workshop on G-suite and clickup via zoom done by Mr. Avishka Gunathilake- Undergraduate of University of Colombo from 5.00 -6.00 pm
21st and 28th November 2020– Workshop on python via google meets done by Mr. Rahul Kalubowila - Undergraduate of University of Colombo from 5.00 -6.00 pm
5th and 12th December 2020– Workshop on excel via google meets done by Mr. Nalaka Wickramage – Undergraduate of University of Colombo- Supply Chain Analyst from 5.00 -6.00 pm and conclusion of the project.
Prior we conduct the workshop, a registration google document to be filled was distributed within the social media by inviting all who are interested in learning these things, more than 230 volunteers registered for the event.
After confirming the event, A email was sent to the sustainability development director of Region A – Leo Hansika Gamlath, and the approval was given to the project with a suggestion. She suggested distributing an E-Certificate to the Participants at the end of the workshop.
Every 3 days before the Workshop, an email was sent to each registered student by informing them about what will be the next workshop and by inviting them all to participate in the event. Emails were sent only to the pre-registered students to prevent the entrance of outsiders.
An average of 50 participants participated in every workshop out of 230 registered for the event. So at the end of all 5 days of conducting the workshop, nearly 200 participants have participated in the whole project.
At the end of each session, some tasks were given to the participants to complete on what they learned through the workshop and some of them have sent their completed tasks to the organizing committee and they are attached in provide google drive link below with other necessary things.
At the end of the workshop series, the feedback was collected from the participants via a google form and most of the participants gave their feedback by admiring the effort taken by the Leos to uplift their knowledge on these valuable platforms.
